Who we are

Beamy is made by TheBeamy, Inc., a Delaware corporation. This policy covers the Beamy apps for iPhone and Android, and thebeamy.com. When we say "we", we mean TheBeamy, Inc.

What we collect

  • Your account. Your phone number, which is how you sign in, and your name and profile photo if you add them.
  • What you drop. The messages, notes, voice notes, photos, files and links you add to Beamy, what you search for, and what Beamy makes from them, like reminders, summaries and drafts.
  • Device information. A notification token so we can send your reminders, and your phone's time zone and language so times and replies are right. On Android, also an app installation ID used for notifications and crash reports.
  • Crash reports (Android). If the Android app crashes or hits an error, it sends a report with technical details about the error, your phone model and Android version, the app's recent activity log and your Beamy account ID, so we can fix it. On iPhone, we only see crash reports if you choose to share them with app developers in your iPhone's settings.
  • The waitlist. If you join the waitlist, the phone number and details you enter in the form.

How we use it

  • To run Beamy for you: keep what you drop, remind you, find things when you ask, and draft what you need.
  • To keep Beamy working: fix bugs and crashes, and keep it fast and reliable.
  • To keep your account safe and prevent misuse.
  • To contact you about your account, like when your invite is ready.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to help run Beamy: hosting and storage, sign-in codes, notifications, crash reports, web search when you ask Beamy to look something up, and the AI that understands what you drop. Beamy's AI comes from third-party AI service providers: the messages, voice notes, photos and files you send are passed to them to write replies, transcripts and summaries. Our service providers act only on our instructions, can use your information only to do that work, and must protect it at least as carefully as this policy does. We may also share information when the law requires it.

We never sell your information, and we never use it or share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while you have an account. When you tap Delete account in Settings, we delete your account and everything in it right away. Copies in our backups and system logs are erased within 30 days. Our service providers erase their copies, like sign-in and crash records, on their own schedules, within 180 days.

Don't have the app, or can't sign in? Email support@thebeamy.com and we'll delete your account for you.

Your choices

  • The mic. Beamy only listens while you're recording, and the app shows you when it is.
  • Notifications. They're optional. You can turn them off in your phone's settings.
  • Permissions. You can turn off microphone, camera, photo and notification access any time in your phone's settings. Beamy still works; you just type instead.
  • Deleting. You can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time.

Children

Beamy isn't meant for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think someone under 18 has given us information, email support@thebeamy.com and we'll delete it.

Security

We protect your information with encryption, in transit and at rest.

Changes

If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change matters to you, we'll also tell you in the app.
